Themoplastic & Injection Compression

Thermoset Injection & Injection Compression

Stechford Mouldings isn’t your everyday plastic moulder, and never has been. We’re technical specialists – and proud to be one of the leading Thermoset Injection and Injection Compression DMC/BMC moulders in the UK.

Choosing Stechford Mouldings Limited means partnering with a team that understands both the science and craft of thermoset moulding — combining modern tooling, lean production practices, and decades of hands-on expertise

We specialise in the precision moulding of high-performance thermoset materials, offering our customers durable and reliable solutions for demanding environments. With decades of experience in plastic manufacturing, our thermoset capabilities are a key part of the value we deliver across automotive, electrical, and industrial markets.

Thermoplastic Injection Moulding

Why Thermosets?

Thermosetting plastics are engineered to form a rigid, infusible structure during the moulding process. Once cured, these materials cannot be re-melted or reshaped, giving them exceptional strength, stability, and resistance to heat and chemicals — making them ideal for applications that demand long-term reliability.

Depending on the end-use application, thermoset compounds are formulated to achieve close dimensional control, dielectric properties, flame and track resistance, corrosion and stain resistance, superior mechanical properties, and colour stability, adequate to a wide variety of applications, requiring precision in detail and dimensional superiority.

Thermoplastic Injection Moulding

Key Advantages in Moulding:

Thermoplastic Injection Moulding
High Heat Resistance

Ideal for under-bonnet, clutch and high-temperature components.

Thermoplastic Injection Moulding
Dimensional Accuracy

Low shrinkage ensures consistent, precise parts.

Thermoplastic Injection Moulding
Excellent Surface Finish

Perfect for both functional and visible applications.

Thermoplastic Injection Moulding
Electrical Insulation

Trusted for safe, high-performance electrical components & switchgear.

Thermoplastic Injection Moulding
Mechanical Strength

Rigid and impact-resistant after curing.

Thermoplastic Injection Moulding

Not just a plastic injection moulder!

Our Thermoset and Injection Compression moulding facility offers one of the largest ranges of presses in the UK, with a total of 14 presses offering clamping forces from 50 - 300 tonnes, with fully equipped ancillary equipment and pick and place robots, capable of moulding any shot weight of up to 1kg.

Thermoset Injection and Injection Compression methods differ from standard Thermoplastic Injection moulding in that the mould tool is heated to form the part rather than cooled to solidify the part.

Our Servo Hydraulic technology machinery provides end users with a greater degree of flexibility with press movement & pressure profiling, SPC monitoring, and control of external devices such as automation to platen zone temperature control and vacuum extraction assisting in the removal of gassing flaws.

As well as assisting to achieve a greater overall appearance, other benefits of injection compression are having the ability to automate the full moulding cycle, thus offering reduced cycle times and cost per part.

At Stechford Mouldings, we work with a wide range of industry-standard thermoset materials including:

  • Phenolic Resins (PF)

Used in high-heat and high-friction environments such as brake and clutch components.

  • Melamine Formaldehyde (MF)

Durable with a glossy finish; used in sockets, switches, and domestic appliances.

  • Urea Formaldehyde (UF)

    Cost-effective with excellent insulation properties.

  • Epoxy Resins

Low shrinkage and strong bonding, ideal for encapsulated electrical parts.

  • Unsaturated Polyester Resins (UP)

Used in BMC/SMC for structurally demanding applications.
